About

Told through the crackle of a vinyl record player…

While going about their daily lives, Stephanie Firth, Claire Patti, Leonie Axford and Stephanie McCorkelle realised they shared some passions: picnics, champagne, anything vintage, singing a cappella, and above all, jazz. They knew that this could be no coincidence. And so, The Velvetones were born. Now, they sing jazz a cappella, wearing vintage outfits, drinking champagne at picnics… and everywhere else.

Vibrant, versatile, vivacious: just a handful of words to describe these four sassy women. Inspired by the likes of Manhattan Transfer, The Andrews Sisters and The Real Group, these velvet-voiced virtuosos perform everything from heart stirring jazz ballads to cheeky early Broadway ditties to hypnotise and delight

The Velvetones launched on to the Australian music scene in 2018 and have very quickly established themselves as one of the country’s leading a cappella ensembles, receiving glowing reviews at the Melbourne International Singers Festival, Adelaide Fringe Festival, and Hobart Festival of voices, and selling out their last 13 shows. At the 2018 National a cappella awards they walked away as National Champions and Band Champions, receiving special awards for Best Jazz Song, Best Comedy Song, Best Soloist, and Audience Favourite.
